Bell's Bake Shop

Situated at the heart of Richmond-Steveston, Bell’s Bake Shop opened about a year ago and serves cupcakes and layered cakes to all those who are craving a sweet treat! Owner Jennifer Bell grew up in the Steveston village area with many fond memories of cakes and treats baked by her mother and grandmother. This led her to start up her own bake shop!

After cooking for five years in Canada and one year in Australia, Jennifer decided to get her Culinary and Pastry Diploma at Debrulle Art Institute in Vancouver. She then decided to go to England where she worked as a Chef and Pastry Chef for four years. However, she came back home to Steveston and enjoys sharing her passion with the locals and non-locals alike.

This year, Bell’s Bake Shop was voted First Place in the “Best Dessert” category as voted by readers of the Richmond Review. The environmentally conscious bakeshop bakes fresh daily using high quality ingredients including 100% Canadian butter, free range eggs, unbleached flour and all natural flavoring. Bell’s Bake Shop’s menu includes gluten free, vegan, and special order cupcakes for those who are diabetic.

If you ever get the chance to drop by, you may want to try their popular “Devils Food” cupcake – a dense chocolate cake with dark chocolate buttercream or “Red Velvet” – a mix between vanilla and chocolate cake, with red coloring and topped with cream cheese buttercream. I had the privilege to try out the “Red Velvet” cupcake and found it extremely delicious. (The icing was light and fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness to it!)
